ADVANCE AND ENFORCE DRINK-DRIVING COUNTERMEASURES

During AWARH 2021, the SNCDA published some infographics on their Facebook account page to raise awareness of the harm caused by drink-driving and of the many risks of alcohol on health. The posts highlighted that alcohol is not only the most common cause of road accidents, but it is also a major preventable risk factor for non-communicable diseases. SNCDA also reported that consumption rates in Slovenia have raised from 7.8% pre-COVID-19 pandemic to 13.9% from the onset of the pandemic. Adequate alcohol policies will urgently need to be introduced and implemented to curb this worrying increasing trend.
